Beginning of Wisdom

Proverbs 1:7 NIV
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

According to BankmyCell there are around 3.5 billion smartphones around the world as of June 2020 vs 2.5 billion smartphones as of 2016. It means that today, around 45% of the world population have smartphones with internet access making it easy to obtain any information at the command of our fingertips. But wisdom defined as "the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment" by Oxford is much more difficult to obtain.  Proverbs 1:7 talks about true knowledge or wisdom, and it tells us that wisdom begins when we revere or honor God with the respect He deserves. Wisdom comes when we submit to God's power and authority.

On the other hand, people who have know-it-all attitude are called "fools" by the Bible. We are finite being and we can never attain the level of God's infinite knowledge. When we submit to God, we acknowledge that we are not perfect and that we need guidance to live a meaningful life. Most of the time, God uses other people or circumstances in our lives to develop our character. There are times that studying the Bible gives us perspective of what's going on in our lives. So stop guessing about life, let's consult the author of life to make our own life counts into something.

Honoring God brings wisdom.
