Blessing Others

Numbers 6:22-27 NIV
The Lord said to Moses, [23] “Tell Aaron and his sons, 'This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: [24] “ ' “The Lord bless you and keep you; [25] the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; [26] the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. ” ' [27] “So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”

God taught Moses to teach the Israelites how to bless others. Blessing others like in the verses above is one way of asking God to extend His divine favor to rest upon others. We are able to bless others because we invoke our rights as sons/daughters of the Lord, and because we believe that our God is able and willing to bless others as well.

Even today, we should practice blessing other people. Blessing other people is not limited to giving. We can bless others simply by praying aloud thay you intend to ask God to extend His favor to the person. As we can learn from these verses, a blessing has 5 parts namely:

1. Asking God for favor and protection- The Lord bless you and keep you
2. Asking God that He may take pleasure in us -  Lord make his face shine on you
3. Asking God to be merciful and compassionate to our faults - be gracious to you
4.  Asking God to give His approval  - the Lord turn his face toward you
5. Asking God for peace - and give you peace

Be intentional. Think who you can bless today?
